Chattin' about Rag Dolls & Girlfriends

I have a “rag doll” stitchery in my dining room.

She reminds me of my younger years...

Simpler times.... best friends, hopscotch, creamsicles.

Dreams, diaries, and secrets.

Laughing the afternoon hours away!

Recently I read the following quote and I was reminded that we should never let life get so busy that we forget to spend time with our girlfriends....

“No matter who you are you GOTTA have you some girlfriends
to laugh & cry & pray & eat & dance & shop & do life with.”
- Anita Renfroe, comedian

IT’S TEA PARTY TIME:

Why not bake a cheesecake (easy recipe below), set out a few dainty tea cups, and invite a friend for an afternoon (or evening) of reminiscing and thanking God for the blessing of our girlfriends..

CREAMSICLE CHEESECAKE

1 graham cracker crust
16 oz. Cream cheese, softened
1- 6 oz. Can frozen orange juice
1 can Eagle Brand Milk
10 oz. Cool Whip

Mix cream cheese, milk and orange juice with
mixer. Fold in cool whip. Pour into crust &
refrigerate at least 4 hours.

A time worn Rag Doll
she now sits high on a shelf
True Friends Forever

THINK ABOUT:

Who is your oldest and dearest girlfriend? Does she know you are thinking of her today....why not let her know!

Who are the girlfriends on your spiritual journey?
Do they know how important they are to you.... why not tell them today!

MORE QUOTES ON FRIENDSHIP:

What shall I bestow upon a friend?
Laughter to sustain when sorrow may bring pain,
a bright song of life, a belief that winter ends in the glory of spring,
and a prayer of hope for peace that will forever stay. – Lea Palmer

Sometimes it is a slender thread,
Sometimes a strong, stout rope;
She clings to one end, I the other;
She calls it friendship; I call it hope.
- Lois Wyse

I just got off the phone with my best friend.... it was our weekly “girlfriend fix” ... our sanity check! Sometimes we laugh, sometimes we cry, and sometimes we share our dreams and prayers. She lives far away, but we’ve already decided that next time she visits.... a “tea party” we shall have!

Hope you have the blessing of a “girlfriend fix” this week!
God’s Peace, Donna Weaver

Donna (Sis2),

Absolutely loved this blog...Thank you for reminding us how important our girlfriends are even though they are in different states..My best friend's name is Deborah (she lives in California) and we have been friends for over 39 years. We keep in touch daily to get "our girlfriend fix" by texting which keeps us connected.

My friend's on my spiritual journey are Lorraine whom I've known for over 15 years and I certainly hope you don't mind that I consider YOU to be my very special, inspirational, spiritual "Sister In Christ" even though we have not formally met in person, as of yet but I really look forward to the day when we do meet!

I can't wait to try out the "Dreamsicle Cheesecake" recipe...It sounds "heavenly!"

I also read your new section for "Kids Peace" to my granddaughter, Jordyn (12) on Monday and she thouroughly enjoyed it. She was getting a little apprehensive about school starting last Tuesday and she seemed more relaxed after she heard your wonderful suggestions...

P.S. I love your time worn Rag Doll that sits high on a shelf...She reminded me of my oldest brother who nicknamed me "Ragdoll" when I was 10 because my mother dressed me like a boy...although I did not like being dubbed that name when I was young, I actually found it to be quite endearing as I grew older and throughout his life I received many letters and cards beginning with "Dear Ragdoll"...

I just want you to know that I love and appreciate all that you are and all that you do to keep this wonderful blog so inspirational and fun to read...

Lv, Hugs & Blessings,
Little Sis

Oops, I meant "Creamsicle Cheesecake" not "Dreamsicle"...it's getting a little late here in TX.

I also forgot to mention that maybe someday, you and I can have a "Tea Party"...I look forward to that day!

Peace and Hugs back at you...
Little Sis

Hey Little Sis,

So good to hear from you - it's been a while. Glad you enjoy the blog and I feel blessed to be your Sister in Christ. Your encouragement and friendship so much to me.

Glad Jordyn enjoyed Kidz Peace. Hope the school year is off to a good start for her. I'm looking forward to the new section for kids and hope it will continue to be a fun and encouraging addition to my blog.

Love your 'Dear Ragdoll' story. The picture at the top of my blog is actually a close up of the framed picture. I did the stitchery many years ago. The angel ragdoll I bought at a craft and it has been one of my favorite "crafty items."

Let me know how the cheesecake turns out. I just found that recipe a week or so ago, and haven't had time to try it out myself yet (but it sure sounded good).

Definitely "tea party" someday... sounds like a plan:)

Hope to hear from you again soon... take care my friend.

God's Peace, Donna (Sis2)

Hey Sis2,

I forgot to mention last night that I was on a wonderful two week vacation in California (visiting family, friends and the OCEAN) and then it took some time to recup from it...LOL.

I certainly have a lot of reading to catch up on...that's why you haven't heard from me in awhile.

Love & Hugs,
Little Sis
